    • Homestead : A Memoir

      $20.00

Joining her husband in the fight to create a home out of a rugged stretch of sagebrush, rattlesnakes, and sand in Eastern Oregon, Jane Kirkpatrick uneasily relinquishes the security of a professional career; the convenience of electricity, running water, and a phone line; and, perhaps most daunting, the pleasures of sporting a professional manicure. But the pull of the land is irresistible, and the couple dreams of gathering their first harvest from a yet-to-be-planted vineyard.

Rather than the simple life they had envisioned, Jane and Jerry find themselves confronting flood and fire, government bureaucracies, and runaway calves, among other disheartening setbacks. Jane frequently questions the sanity of pioneering in this remote area, known as Starvation Point, and she fights against panic with each trip they make down the seven-mile, boulder-strewn, rut-carved “driveway” she calls “the reptile road,” which threatens to spill them into the ravine with every lurch of the truck.

But as she learns to navigate her new life, this novice rancher discovers that disappointment, isolation, and danger can’t compete with the generosity of their rural community, the strength of family bonds, and the faithfulness of the God who planted in their hearts the dream of carving a refuge out of an inhospitable land.

    • Saints Alive The Faith Proclaimed

      $14.95

The saints take center stage, showing us how to live a Christian life through the beatitudes and sacraments.

Combining the art of dramatic storytelling with biography, Church history, and Catholic teaching and belief, this collection of stories features saints from different eras, continents, and walks of life. Each brief story highlights a particular aspect of or challenge in the saint’s life and connects it to a part of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Showing how real people lived the eight beatitudes and seven sacraments, their stories reveal the richness of the Christian life and offer inspirational models of the faith. This book’s companion volume, Saints Alive! The Gospel Witnessed, takes a similar approach, showing us how to live a Christian life through the example of holy-yet relatable-men and women who have lived the Gospel. Teachers and students of the faith and individuals who are simply looking for captivating stories to read will find that presenting components of the Catholic faith through the lives of the saints is both educational and enjoyable.

Along with their biographical portraits, each included saint features a prayer, a fact box, notes, lesser-known facts, and a quote from their writings. A “Reader’s Guide” contains personal reflection and group discussion questions and directs you to relevant parts of the Bible and the Catechism. This unique feature makes this volume ideal for RCIA teachers and participants, adult faith formation groups, parish book clubs, and independent study.

    • Faith To Die For

      $14.99

“He stood and looked at us. The weapon was hot and heavy in his hand as he lowered the barrel toward us. His face was streaked with sweat and dirt; his eyes were filled with the sights of combat. He stared at me and asked,’ Are you Mr. Mark?”

How can you face death squarely while experiencing an absolute absence of fear? You can if you have hope. You can if you have traveled from Guatemala to Kiev to Beijing and seen God restoring hope in the midst of hopeless situations.

Recounting his journey from captivity in Aceh, Indonesia, to freedom, Mark Geppert reveals the reality of knowing a God who never fails us or forsakes us. Mark’s incredible testimony is one of belief, action, purpose, and a step-by-step growth of faith.

    • Saint Barbara (DVD)

      $19.99

In 303 A.D., Barbara is the beautiful, twenty-yearold daughter of Dioscoro, the Roman governor during a time of fierce Christian persecution. Barbara is a pagan, but when Giuliana, a slave raised alongside her almost like a sister, is condemned to death for her Christian faith, Barbara rebels.
She valiantly attempts to save Giuliana, as well as other Christians being persecuted, boldly protesting to her father and other government leaders. When that fails, Barbara makes a daring plan for the successful escape from prison of her Christian friends.

Saint Barbara is also the story of her profound love for Claudio, the noble Roman soldier whose life she saves, as well as her deep compassion for all afflicted humanity. The courageous and holy witness of her Christian friends inspires her to convert to their religion, a decision which will eventually cost Barbara her life.

Before her death, Barbara discovers she has journeyed down the same path as her mother, who was taken from her as a child for having made the same choice, to become a Christian, which had never been told to Barbara as she was growing up.

Barbara is the victim of many acts of cruelty in the last period of her life. The serenity with which she overcomes such barbarity can only be attributed to her new faith in Christ, which gives her the strength necessary to face the most difficult trials and to forgive her persecutors.

Set in the Empire Studios, reproducing ancient Rome, Saint Barbara recreates authentic atmosphere and a realistic sense of the the time period, mingling historical and some fictional characters. Starring Vanessa Hessler, Thomas Trabacchi, Massimo Wertmulle and Simone Montedoro.

“If I ever become a Saint-I will surely be one of “darkness.” I will continually be absent from Heaven-to lit the light of those in darkness on earth .”
      -Mother Teresa of Calcutta

During her lifelong service to the poorest of the poor, Mother Teresa became an icon of compassion to people of all religions; her extraordinary contributions to the care of the sick, the dying, and thousands of others nobody else was prepared to look after has been recognized and acclaimed throughout the world. Little is known, however, about her own spiritual heights or her struggles. This collection of letters she wrote to her spiritual advisors over decades, almost all of which have never been made public before, sheds light on Mother Teresa’s interior life in a way that reveals the depth and intensity of her holiness for the first time. A moving chronicle of her spiritual journey-including moments, indeed years, of utter desolation-these letters reveal the secrets she shared only with her closest confidants. She emerges as a classic mystic whose inner life burned with the fire of charity and whose heart was tested and purified by an intense trial of faith, a true dark night of the soul.

    • Our People : The Remarkable Story Of William And Catherine Booth And The Sa (DVD

      $19.99

This is the story of how one couple took God’s love to the poor. Walking the poverty-stricken streets of Whitechapel late one night in the summer of 1865, past neglected, ragged children, drunken women, unemployed men, and prostitutes plying their trade, William Booth decided, ‘These will be our people.’
What followed makes an enthralling story of spiritual passion, courage, and faith leading to the birth of The Salvation Army. Young people, often as young as 18, opened the Army’s evangelistic work in mining towns or even new nations and the Army expanded globally. Teaming up with journalist WT Stead, the Army tackled the sexual trafficking business that entrapped hundreds of young girls.
