The time is ripe for a new account of the life of Jesus. It has been over twenty-five years since an evangelical New Testament scholar has written a textbook survey of this type. Today the landscape of Jesus and Gospel studies has been radically transformed by new questions and critical challenges. No less remarkable is the contemporary renaissance of our knowledge of the world of Jesus. In Jesus the Messiah Robert Stein draws together the results of a career of research and writing on Jesus and the Gospels. Every episode in the life of Jesus is here treated with historical care and attention to its significance for understanding the life and ministry of Jesus. Clearly written, ably argued and geared to the needs of students, Jesus the Messiah will give probing minds a sure grounding in the life and ministry of Jesus.

    • AMG Concise Survey Of The Bible

      $24.99

This edition of G. Campbell Morgan’s work has been compiled from the three volumes published in the early 1900s as The Messages of the Books of the Bible. We at AMG Publishers have made several changes as we have combined these into one volume. This volume contains Morgan’s content for both the Old and New Testaments whereas in the previous publications, the Old Testament was split into two volumes, and the New Testament made the third volume. We also have updated the spelling in accordance with how our language has changed over the years. However, we have not updated the points of current history mentioned by Morgan; readers should note that they are from the turn of the century. Morgan strives to lay out in simple form what he sees to be the message of each book of the Bible, or in some cases, the message of more than one book combined. The one exception to this is the book of Lamentations for which Morgan did not include a chapter. At the beginning of each chapter, he outlines the primary message in the form of a chart, which he follows as he writes the chapter, expounding on his basic points. For the Old Testament, he breaks each book down into “The Permanent Value(s)” and “The Living Message.” His layout for the books of the New Testament contains “The Essential Message” and “The Application.” The charts are a kind of overview for what the reader shall explore in the chapters.

JENSEN’S SURVEY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT

“All too often, students of New Testament survey read the instruction of others regarding the content of the Bible books but fail to spend time reading the Bible text for themselves. This book has been written to start the reader onto paths of study in each New Testament book, to search and discover for himself the great themes of each book.”

The main purpose of this New Testament survey guide is to involve the reader personally in a first hand survey of the Bible text and to lead the reader into a time of personal reflection as he considers practical spiritual applications of the Bible book he has just studied.

Important helps for study include opening paragraphs of each chapter that prepare the student for study, background information on each book, a survey of the content of each book, a discussion of the prominent subjects of the Bible book, identification of key words and verses, application suggestions, review questions, suggestions for further study, brief outlines of each book, selected reading lists, and complete survey charts.
